While painting and installing the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3f2PhQu\">small towel bar drying rack<\/a>, I must have dropped three screws behind the washer three times. I also found a fair amount of stray socks and garments back there. First, I measured the space across the washer and dryer, wall-to-wall. This was the measurement I took to Home Depot to have them cut.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, I didn&#8217;t want the shelf itself to be screwed down. I wanted to be able to lift it and acce<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">ss the back parts of the washer and dryer, quickly, if I ever needed to.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The design was going to be simple. Around the wall, I installed a perimeter of 1x2s. You can get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/1-in-x-2-in-x-8-ft-Select-Kiln-Dried-Square-Edge-Whitewood-Board-418532\/203450502\">1&#8243;x2&#8243;x8&#8242; boards at Home Depot<\/a> or at Lowe&#8217;s. To install, I used the stud finder and drilled the deck screws into place at those spots. I pre-drilled the deck screws slight into the 1x2s because they are prone to splitting with too much force.\u00a0<\/p><p>Once those were in place, I tested the larger boards to make sure that they fit comfortably on the 1x2s. They were a perfect fit.\u00a0<\/p><p>I used 3 larger boards to make the shelf.\u00a0<\/p><p>Two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/1-in-x-10-in-x-6-ft-Premium-Kiln-Dried-Square-Edge-Whitewood-Common-Board-914894\/100022066\">1 x 10 x 6 boards<\/a> like these ones you can find at Home Depot.<\/p><p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/1-in-x-12-in-x-6-ft-Premium-Kiln-Dried-Square-Edge-Whitewood-Common-Board-458511\/100054737\">1x 12 x 6 board<\/a> like this one at Home Depot.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-10ccc23 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"10ccc23\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8f2640a\" data-id=\"8f2640a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-35ac2f5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"35ac2f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Before staining the boards with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowes.com\/pd\/Minwax-Wood-Finish-Dark-Walnut-Oil-Based-Interior-Stain-Actual-Net-Contents-32-fl-oz\/999914241\">MinWax wood finish<\/a>, I did use a hand saw to cut out a piece from the front right of the shelf. This notch would allow for my ironing board to slide into the laundry closet along the side.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Once, everything was stained, I had to connect the pieces together.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
